On July 24 the victim responded to a Craigslist ad for a rental home. The victim met with the suspects, who used the names Janet and Chris, at a business in the 1200 block of Collier Boulevard. The victim gave the pair a $500 cash deposit and a signed rental lease agreement. The pair gave the victim a set of house keys and the rental home’s address.

Upon arriving at the home the front door was unlocked and a rear window to the home was broken. Inside the home the victim located a business card with the legitimate homeowner’s contact information. The victim called the legitimate owner and learned the lease was fraudulent

Detectives said the victims described the man as possibly from Honduras and having two silver veneered teeth and a tattoo on his neck. The woman was described as Cuban and was pregnant. She had several tattoos on her hands.

Anyone with information regarding the identities of this man and woman asked to call the Collier County Sheriff’s Office at 239.252.9300, or to remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-8477 (TIPS).
