WHAT: Golden Gate Relay for Life
WHEN: Friday, April 26 through Saturday, April 27
TIME: 5 p.m.
LOCATION: Golden Gate Community Center, 4701 Golden Gate Parkway
SUMMARY: The Collier County Sheriff’s Office will show its support for the American Cancer Society during the Relay for Life of Golden Gate event on Friday, April 26.
The opening ceremony kicks off at 5 p.m. immediately followed by the survivors’ lap, during which all cancer survivors will take the first walk around the track.
The Luminaria Ceremony at 9 p.m. will honor those who are currently battling cancer and those who have survived, as well as memorialize those who died of the disease. Luminaries with the names of those affected by cancer will be lined up throughout the track to help light the walkers’ path.
Participants will continue to walk the track throughout the night until the closing ceremony wraps up the event Saturday morning.
