What started as an investigation into a pawn store transaction has led to multiple felony charges against a couple in connection with a series of residential break-ins in Golden Gate and Golden Gate Estates in March and April.
Sean Patrick Long, 29, and Nicole Davis, 23, both of 11265 U.S. 41 E., #35, are each charged with 10 counts of burglary. Detectives said mostly jewelry, laptops and cash were stolen from the residences.
Long and Davis face 10 additional counts of defrauding a pawnbroker and dealing in stolen property. Detectives said the pair pawned many of the items they stole in exchange for cash.
Many of the charges were filed this week.
Detectives gave this account of the events leading up to the arrests:
On March 27, deputies responded to a report of a break-in at a residence on 31st Avenue Southwest in which thieves stole jewelry. One of the items stolen was a high school championship ring. The victim’s initials and date of the championship was inscribed inside the ring.
While investigating the case, detectives searched local pawn shop records for possible transactions involving this ring. Their search turned up a transaction of a ring that matched the description of the stolen ring that had been pawned by Long for $484 at Gold Buyers Direct, 1900 U.S. 41 N. on March 28. Detectives were able to confirm it was the ring reported stolen March 27.
Further investigation revealed Davis, Long’s girlfriend, had sold 133 pieces of jewelry from March 21 to March 29 to Certification Marketing Consultants, 2314 Immokalee Road. Detectives then began to research other residential burglary cases reported during this time frame.
Pawn transactions by both Long and Davis linked them to more burglaries, detectives said.
They were arrested April 9 after they were spotted leaving a residence in the 3400 block of 41st Avenue Northeast that had just been burglarized, detectives said.
Long and Davis are also charged with burglary and grand theft in connection with two burglaries at St. Finbarr Catholic Church, 13520 U.S. 41 E., East Naples in February and March.
Detectives have also charged Long and Davis with felony theft in connection with the theft of a donation box from the counter at Collier County Domestic Animal Services, 7610 Davis Blvd., East Naples, in February.
