Detectives purchased the items from Rose’s Food Mart, 6006 Radio Road. Detectives and Collier County Code Enforcement officers then seized 183 individual packages and containers that contained the suspected synthetic marijuana.
The seller, identified as Halil Ibrahim Gungor, 29, and the store owner, identified as Abdurrahim Ozturk, 31, each were issued a Code Enforcement notice of violation pursuant to Collier County Ordinance No. 2013-02. The ordinance makes it illegal to possess or sell synthetic marijuana that is marketed under a variety of names, including Bath Salts, Spice and K2. These drugs can be highly unpredictable and may cause hallucinations, psychotic episodes, seizures, paranoia and tremors. Some users have died. The effects vary due to the inconsistency of the chemical mixtures. The substances are typically marketed at service stations and convenience stores.
No arrests were made, however charges are pending in this case related to the continued criminal investigation.
