The Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce has honored Sheriff Kevin Rambosk with a leadership award for his achievements in making Collier County a great place and a safe place.
The Partnership for Collier’s Future Economy, an affiliate of the Chamber, presented the 2013 Excellence in Industry Awards at the annual Business Recognition Ceremony on Friday at the Hilton Naples.
Nearly 300 business, civic and community leaders gathered for the prestigious event that honors top companies that exemplify the use of innovation, a responsible approach to economic diversification, and business and community enhancement.
Sheriff Rambosk was presented the award in the Excellence in Leadership category.
The Excellence in Leadership Award recognizes a leader who has taken an active role in making Collier County the best place to live and do business.
As Collier County’s top law enforcement officer since 2009, Sheriff Rambosk has created a multitude of programs and initiatives aimed at keeping Collier County a great place and a safe place, according to the letter nominating him for the award.
“Sheriff Rambosk navigated the (Collier County Sheriff’s Office) through the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression, saving taxpayers $20.6 million, or a cumulative $48 million over the course of four years,’’ the nomination letter stated. “And despite these reductions he found a way to not only maintain, but increase services.”
The Sheriff launched the agency’s ambitious Summerfest youth activities program, established the Collier County Organized Retail Theft Association, created Community Safety Teams and provided the community with the convenience of online crime reporting, to name just a few initiatives.
