Hazelden in Naples addiction treatment center will present a free symposium titled, “Motivating Change: Addiction Treatment versus Incarceration,” on Tuesday, Oct. 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hodges University, 2655 Northbrooke Drive.
The event will feature a panel of experts including Collier County Circuit Judge Christine Grieder; Gerald Berry, founding member of the law firm Berry, Day & McFee; Collier County Judge Janeice Martin; David Schimmel, CEO of the David Lawrence Center; and Patrick Krill, director of Hazelden’s Legal Professionals Program.
The symposium will provide helpful information to the community to shed light on:
- Why addiction is a disease that requires treatment
- The powerful relationship between addiction, mental health and criminal behavior
- The important role of drug and mental health courts
- The rationale for addiction treatment versus incarceration
The free symposium will take place in the main auditorium.
