A tip from an alert Collier County Sheriff’s Office Facebook
follower has helped detectives solve a robbery.
Michael Gary Brown, 45, 4443 Ballard St., Fort Myers, was
charged with robbery Wednesday in connection with the April 16, 2013, robbery
of Walgreens, 1565 Airport-Pulling Road. He was arrested at the Lee County
Jail, where he is incarcerated on unrelated charges.
On Feb. 19 detectives posted surveillance photos from the
robbery on the agency’s Facebook page. Someone recognized Brown and made a tip
through Crime Stoppers. Follow-up investigation by detectives confirmed that
Brown was the person in the photo.
Detectives say Brown entered the Walgreens, approached a
clerk and demanded cash. He did not display a weapon but made a reference to
having one. He left the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.
