Program Encourages Teen Drivers To Get 'Street Smart'

The Collier County Sheriff’s Office urges teen drivers to join Drug Free Collier for a free interactive presentation to encourage smart choices behind the wheel.

The Street Smart presentation is for teens 14 and older and their parents on Friday, June 6, from noon to 1 p.m. at the Barron Collier High School Auditorium. The event will also feature Nick Healey, a BCHS student whose right leg was severed in a vehicle accident in Georgia in March.

The 100 deadliest days for young drivers are between Memorial Day and Labor Day according to data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. To help prevent further tragedies, parents and teens are invited to join Drug Free Collier for a one-of-a-kind real-life view as seen through the eyes of first responders.
