Run4Fun Program Encourages Collier Students To Stay Active This Summer

The Collier County Sheriff’s Office and the Kiwanis Club of Golden Gate have partnered to encourage Collier County youngsters to get up and get active.

The Run4Fun event will kick off Saturday, June 7 at Golden Gate High School, 2925 Titan Way. Children and families are encouraged to walk/run on the school track as a way to encourage healthy habits throughout the summer. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and races begin at 9 a.m.

The Run4Fun event will take place every Saturday at GGHS through July 26. Children who participate in at least five out of the eight runs will receive a trophy and a T-shirt in recognition of their achievement.

This free event will also serve as a public safety fair where families can learn ways to stay safe, meet with the agency’s various community partners and try their skill on the CCSO rock climbing wall. Deputies will also be available to teach kids the techniques involved in doing shot puts and long jumps.
