CCSO Investigating 'Purge' Web Pages Posting Child Pornography

The Collier County Sheriff's Office is investigating reports of social media accounts that encourage followers to send in nude photos of teenagers to be posted to the Internet.

These types of web pages are inspired by the movie "Purge 2 Anarchy," and encourage followers to expose anything or say anything for 12 to 24 hours.

CCSO has received four complaints since Thursday.

The reports being investigated by CCSO involve Instagram, although purge web pages may exist on other social media platforms. Subjects involved in these web pages solicit criminal activity, primarily child pornography.

Detectives are actively investigating and say that anyone found to be involved will face criminal charges, including charges relating to the distribution of child pornography, which are felony crimes that could carry significant prison time.

CCSO encourages parents to talk to their children about the dangers of sharing nude photos with anyone and the criminal risk of participating in one of these web pages.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Collier County Sheriff's Office at 239.252.9300 or to remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward contact Crime Stoppers at 1.800.780.8477.
