Leaders Learn About Law Enforcement

Members of the Growing Associates In Naples (GAIN) Class of 2015 learned about the Collier County Sheriff’s Office as part of the Naples Chamber of Commerce’s annual Law Enforcement Day on Tuesday, March 3.

The group gathered at the jail, where they were greeted by Chief of Investigations Jim Williams, who discussed the current crime statistics in Collier County and how the numbers compare throughout Florida. Corrections Commander Kevin McGowan followed up with an overview of inmate demographics and a day in the life of a jail deputy. Financial Crimes Bureau Lt. Chad Parker shared tips on how to avoid becoming a victim of identity theft.

The event concluded with an outside demonstration by Bomb Unit Sgt. Mike Oler. Participants also got to check out some of the equipment used by the SWAT unit.
