On Saturday, the Collier County Sheriff's Office
participated in the 13th Annual "Battle of the Badges" State's
Attorney Office Softball Tournament to benefit Crime Stoppers of Southwest
Florida. The team has been very
successful in the past, winning nine of the last 13 events. The 13th proved to be the most rewarding.
After experiencing a rare loss in 2014, Collier made its way through the
bracket Saturday to face Charlotte County in the double-elimination style championship
round. Charlotte won the first game but
would have to beat the Collier team twice to claim the title. But that wasn’t
meant to be. In the bottom of the last inning, with two outs and the bases
loaded, and trailing Charlotte 24-21, Robbie Bailey hit a walk-off grand slam
to seal the victory 25-24! Congrats to
