The Collier County Sheriff’s Office often receives thank-you letters for the hard work and time deputies invest in making our community a safer and more enjoyable place to live. We would like to share this one.
On Thursday, August 6th my husband and I, along with our two young grandchildren were traveling through your wonderful county after visiting Everglades Holiday Park. We had no idea there would be so few exits and gas stations on I 75! Our van gauge said we had 3 miles until empty and no gas station or exit in sight, so we parked under an underpass in the shade. Our first assistance came from an FHP officer who stopped to check on us. He said he would call for someone to bring gas to us and he left. About 20 minutes later one of your deputies, Cpl. Jerrod Carver stopped to see if he could help. What an outstanding gentleman! The first call for gas had never been dispatched, so Officer Carver called it in again. He then gave us water from his cooler and offered to sit and wait with us until help arrived. We didn't need him to sit with us, but he took time to interact with the two grandchildren (much to their delight)! He also gave us his card and said if help didn't come in 20 minutes to call him and he would call it in again. Roadside assistance arrived in about 15 minutes and we were on our way. If all your deputies are as considerate and professional as Officer Carver, then you have a wonderful agency!
