The Collier County Sheriff’s Office urges motorists
to use caution and to expect delays at the U.S. 41 East and Collier
Boulevard intersection for the next several weeks.
Traffic in each direction has been reduced from three lanes
to two lanes as crews work toward completion of construction of the U.S. 41 and
Collier Boulevard Intersection Capacity Improvement Project, which is planned
in approximately two months. The project limits extend approximately
one-quarter mile in each direction. The speed limit has been reduced to 35 mph in this area during the
construction project. Drivers are reminded to stay alert and drive with care.
Motorists
can also expect paving operations between the Wal-Mart Supercenter entrance and
just north of Triangle Boulevard starting Friday, Sept. 25 and continuing
through Friday, Oct. 2, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting.
Traffic
may be reduced to one lane in each direction for brief segments during the
paving project.
Deputies
will be present to assist with traffic. In
addition, electronic message boards, lighted arrow boards, advance
warning signs and barricades are being used to assist motorists.
