The Collier County Sheriff’s Office is taking steps to reduce traffic accidents and fatalities after two people died in separate crashes at busy North Naples intersections.

A 76-year-old woman was killed in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Livingston Road and Orange Blossom Drive on Nov. 11. A 75-year-old woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Airport-Pulling Road and Orange Blossom Drive on Nov. 4. The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating both crashes.

In response to these fatalities, CCSO has begun a special traffic enforcement initiative focused on aggressive driving and speed in the areas of Airport-Pulling Road, Livingston Road, Vanderbilt Beach Road and Orange Blossom Drive.

“We will be using marked patrol units, unmarked patrol units, “ghost” vehicles, and marked police motorcycles all using radar and laser speed-measuring devices,” said Lt. Mike Dolan of the CCSO Safety Traffic Enforcement Bureau.
