CCSO, Jewish Federation Partner To Make Kids' Holiday Brighter

A pillow for dad, a necklace for mom, a race car for a brother, a poster for a sister, and, of course, a little something for themselves.

These were some of the items on the lists of children who went on a shopping spree with Collier County Sheriff’s Office deputies Monday thanks to a generous $9,000 donation by a member of the Jewish Federation of Collier County who wishes to remain anonymous.

Ninety deserving boys and girls in East Naples and Golden Gate received $100 apiece to shop for their parents and siblings. The event served to help families in need to enjoy the season, while giving children an opportunity to interact and spend quality time with deputies.

Deputies teamed up with the young shoppers at Kmart, 4955 Golden Gate Parkway in Golden Gate, and at the Wal-Mart Supercenter on Collier Boulevard near Davis Boulevard in East Naples.

After the purchases were made, the children enjoyed snow cones and popcorn with the deputies and were treated to a surprise visit from Santa. CCSO members also offered free gift wrapping services for those children who wanted their packages dressed up.

Sheriff Kevin Rambosk said the event was in keeping with the agency’s focus on service to others before self.
