Update: Homicide Investigation In East Naples

UPDATE: A 42-year-old man wanted in the murder of a missing Collier County man has been arrested in Charlotte County.

Kurt William L’Heureux was arrested without incident Wednesday in Port Charlotte by deputies with the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office.

L’Heureux was booked into the Charlotte County jail on a second-degree murder charge in connection with the death of Robert Charles Guyette, 41.

Detectives said L’Heureux shot Guyette in the head following an ongoing dispute. The two men had been living in the same trailer at 160 Jeepers Drive in East Naples.

Collier County Sheriff’s Office detectives gave this account of the events leading up to the arrest:
On March 8, the body of an unidentified man was discovered in a wooded area off of Bayshore Drive in East Naples by a homeless couple looking for a place to camp. Further investigation by detectives identified the man as Guyette, who had been reported missing Feb. 26.

The District 20 Medical Examiner’s Office determined the manner of death was a homicide.

Over the following weeks, detectives interviewed witnesses and collected evidence that established probable cause for an arrest warrant charging L’Heureux with second-degree murder with a firearm. The warrant was approved by a judge Tuesday.

CCSO contacted the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday and provided deputies with a possible location for L’Heureux in Port Charlotte. That same day deputies located L’Heureux at a pet grooming and boarding facility in Port Charlotte, where he had been staying in a back room, and took him into custody.

Arrangements are underway to have L’Heureux transferred to the Collier County jail.
