Unoccupied CCSO Patrol Cars Shot

The Collier County Sheriff’s Office is investigating gunshots that hit two marked, unoccupied CCSO vehicles that were parked at the Mercato Saturday.

Deputies working at Blue Martini heard gunshots shortly after 1:30 a.m. and discovered the damage to both vehicles.

The vehicles were parked in the parking garage at the Mercato, where they were discovered with bullet holes. Deputies say a single round penetrated both vehicles, which were parked in adjacent parking spaces.

Stefan D. Morales, 22, was arrested and charged with possession of a concealed firearm and shooting into an unoccupied vehicle.

While Collier County Sheriff’s Office deputies enjoy a high degree of community support, this incident is an unfortunate reminder that some individuals act out their contempt toward law enforcement in very dangerous ways.
