WHAT: Law enforcement appreciation pizza party and “Let’s Glow For LEOs” event

WHERE: Cosmos Café & Pizzeria, 536 U.S. 41 N., a half mile north of Fifth Avenue South in Naples.

TIME6 p.m. to 8 p.m. pizza party followed by “Let’s Glow For LEOs” event on U.S. 41 North at  8:30 p.m.

A Naples restaurant owner will be dishing up support for local law enforcement officers and he’s hoping the community will turn out in force and join him.

Hundreds of people waving blue glow sticks are expected to line U.S. 41 North in the City of Naples at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 3, to show their appreciation for law enforcement at an event organizers are calling “Let’s Glow For LEOs.”

Organizer Gianluca Corso, owner of Cosmos Café & Pizzeria, 536 U.S. 41 N. in Naples, said he’s unhappy with negativity being shown to law enforcement officers across the U.S. and wanted to do something positive locally.

“I want to support law enforcement,” Corso said.

That’s why he also will be offering free pizza with a minimum $10 donation at his restaurant from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3. Naples Mayor Bill Barnett will serve as guest bartender.

“I want to be able to make at least 300 pizzas,” he said.

Corso said all of the proceeds from the event will benefit the Collier County 100 Club, which provides immediate financial assistance to the families of fallen police and emergency responders who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

“The Collier County 100 Club is very proud to be a part of this event and we support all first responders and appreciate all they do to keep us safe,” said Club President Patrick O’Connor.

Collier County Sheriff Kevin Rambosk said he is gratified at the recent outpouring of support for local law enforcement.

“I am pleased to support this event and I can tell you that we as an agency have been overwhelmed at the way our community is rallying around our deputies,” Sheriff Rambosk said.

Immediately following the pizza party participants are invited to stay for the “Let’s Glow For LEOs” event. O’Connor said his organization has 1,000 blue glow sticks it hopes to distribute.

The 100 Club is counting on a big show of support from the community, he said.

“I would love to see people standing outside the door trying to get into the restaurant,” O’Connor said.

The Collier County Sheriff’s Office and Naples Police Department will provide traffic safety enforcement during the event.
