Driver Led Deputies On Car Chase

A man was arrested Thursday night after deputies say he drove his car into oncoming traffic and nearly collided with a tractor trailer before leading deputies on a pursuit through Immokalee.

Romaldo Ramirez Silva, 21, 202 Madison Ave., Immokalee, was charged with fleeing and eluding and DUI.

Reports say Silva was driving a white Lincoln Town Car that was swerving in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed on State Road 82 around 11:50 p.m. While traveling east on SR 82 Silva left his lane and went into oncoming traffic several times and almost collided with a tractor trailer.

Silva turned south onto State Road 29 and passed a deputy in a patrol car who activated his lights and sirens and gave pursuit.Silva turned east onto New Market Road with deputies still in pursuit. Silva turned north onto Escambia Street and then east on Madison Avenue, stopping in front of his residence, where he was arrested.
