Drug Deal Turns Sour

Two men have been charged in connection with holding a juvenile at gunpoint and robbing him during a drug deal.

Deputies say Zachary Vanhoy, 20, Sea Eagle Marina Club, and Michael Whatley, 3136 52nd Terrace, held a juvenile at gunpoint in a car Feb. 27 as the juvenile was trying to buy marijuana from Vanhoy. The robbery happened at the corner of Pebble Brooke Drive and Silk Oak Lane in the Pebble Brooke community, reports say.

The juvenile told deputies he got into the back seat of the car occupied by Vanhoy and Whatley to buy marijuana at around 10:30 p.m., but the two pulled guns and pointed them at him and demanded that he empty his pockets. They took $20 and his Nokia cell phone and then ordered him out of the car.

Vanhoy and Whatley each were charged with armed robbery.
