Deputies: Man Grabbed Child In Grocery Store Parking Lot

Deputies arrested a 49-year-old man after they say he grabbed a 4-year-old girl in the parking lot of a Golden Gate grocery store Wednesday as her mother loaded groceries into her car.

Timmie Bell, 2001 Airport-Pulling Road, East Naples, was charged with kidnapping.

Arrest reports say Lisa Perez, 25, told deputies that she was placing groceries into her car in the parking lot of Winn-Dixie, 4849 Golden Gate Parkway, around 6:50 p.m. when Bell approached her and her daughter.

Bell grabbed the child and picked her up by her waist, reports said. Perez asked Bell what he was doing and he told her he was “going to take the girl with him,” reports said.

Bell began to walk away with the child and Perez grabbed him by the arm and told him she was going to call police, reports said.

Bell then put the child down and walked away, reports said.

Deputies quickly located Bell near the shopping cart return area in the store parking lot, reports said.
