Stolen Jeep Pursuit Nets Career Criminal

A man who was recently released from prison was arrested Tuesday night after deputies stopped him for driving a stolen car following a brief pursuit in East Naples.

Christopher Wagenman, 28, 3665 47th Ave. N.E., Golden Gate Estates, was charged with grand theft auto, fleeing and eluding and possession of cocaine.

Arrest reports gave this account:

Wagenman was driving a 1998 gray Jeep that had been reported stolen out of Collier County. A CCSO deputy attempted to stop the Jeep at the intersection of Davis Boulevard and Airport-Pulling Road after learning the Jeep was stolen.

Wagenman failed to stop even after the deputy activated his lights and sirens. Wagenman accelerated and the deputy initiated a pursuit which continued south along Airport-Pulling, then east on U.S. 41 East before ending at the intersection of U.S. 41 and Osceola Avenue.

A search of the Jeep turned up a piece of crack cocaine on the driver’s seat, reports said.

Wagenman is a documented career criminal in Collier County and was released from prison on Feb. 24 for trafficking in cocaine, according to reports.
