WHAT: Marine Law Enforcement Appreciation Day
WHEN: Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008
TIME: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
WHERE: Tin City, 12005 Fifth Ave. S., Naples
SUMMARY: Join us at the Tin City sea wall along the Gordon River for a special event showcasing the various marine law enforcement agencies that are responsible for protecting the inland and offshore waters of Collier County.
The event follows in the wake of this week’s opening of the Joint Marine Operations Center at the Collier County Sheriff’s Office’s substation on Marco Island. Many of the agencies partnering with CCSO in the operations center will participate in Saturday’s event.
The CCSO Marine Bureau, U.S. Coast Guard, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Naples Police and Emergency Services Department, and the Marco Island Police Department will have vessels docked along the sea wall for public inspection.The event will also feature informational displays from CCSO’s Crime Prevention Section, Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers, Coast Guard Auxiliary, Marine Industries Association of Collier County, and Freedom Waters Foundation. McGruff, the Crime Dog, will also be on hand.
