WHAT: “Operation Air Brake”
WHEN: Sunday, Sept. 21, 2008, to Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008
WHERE: Collier County
SUMMARY: CCSO deputies will conduct random inspections of commercial vehicles equipped with air brakes such as trucks and buses.
The inspections will be conducted as part of a nationwide safety campaign called “Operation Air Brake.”
The inspections are to assure compliance with federal regulations governing the braking equipment on commercial motor vehicles.
The goal of the safety campaign is to reduce the number of highway crashes caused by faulty braking systems on commercial vehicles by conducting roadside inspections and educating drivers about the importance of proper brake inspection, maintenance and operation.
