2 Charged In East Naples Homicide

Two teenagers are being charged with first-degree murder after deputies say they robbed and killed a man Sunday night in East Naples.

Arrested were Juan Jose Barrientos, 17, 11523 Labrador Lane, East Naples, and Jesus Rene Garza, 18, 113 Tomato Road, East Naples.

Deputies say Barrientos went to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office East Naples substation shortly before 4 p.m. Tuesday saying he had information relating to a murder. At about the same time, Garza came to CCSO headquarters and made a similar statement.

Information led investigators to a body in a wooded area near the intersection of Sunny Grove Avenue and Ladybug Lane. The body was that of a middle-aged Hispanic man whose identity has yet to be determined. Investigators believe the victim was stabbed.

Deputies believe Barrientos and Garza planned to rob and kill the man because they thought he had a large amount of money.

Photos of Barrientos and Garza are not yet available. Additional information is not available at this time.
