Man Charged With Stealing Equipment From Employer

Deputies arrested an East Naples man Sunday and charged him with stealing cleaning and gardening equipment from his employer and then pawning the items.

Arrest reports say Eli Samuel Melendez-Mendez, 45, 918 Coconut Circle, stole a pressure washer, buffer/polisher and weed cutter from Leslie P. Marsh, 45. Mendez-Melendez works as a driver for Marsh, who owns a baby supply distributing business in East Naples, reports said.

Marsh told deputies that on Thursday she found pawn receipts for the stolen items inside her work truck that Melendez-Mendez uses for deliveries. Melendez-Mendez’s name was on the receipts, reports said.

Marsh said she then checked her bank account and discovered that Melendez-Mendez forged her name on two separate checks for $200 on March 26 and for $300 on April 1, reports said.

Deputies arrested Melendez-Mendez and charged him with grand theft and dealing in stolen property, according to arrest reports.
