CCSO Unveils Rx Medicine Drop-Off Box

Sheriff Kevin J. Rambosk unveiled Thursday a lock box where people can discard their unused or expired medication at the Collier County Sheriff’s Office.

The box is located in the lobby of CCSO headquarters, Building J., 3301 U.S. 41 E., East Naples.

It is the first permanent medicine collection site in Collier County.

CCSO and Drug Free Collier are partners in the effort.

Statistics show that in the next three to five years prescription drug abuse will be the No. 1 drug problem in the United States, Sheriff Rambosk said.

“This is an important step forward for Collier County to keep our streets safe from drug use and abuse,” Sheriff Rambosk said in announcing the collection site at CCSO.

Sheriff Rambosk was joined by Cmdr. Beth Jones of CCSO’s Youth and Delinquency Services Division; Maria Victoria Delgado, executive director of Drug Free Collier; Maribel DeArmas, prevention coordinator for Drug Free Collier, and Veora Little, a Drug Free Collier volunteer and pioneer of Operation Medicine Cabinet, a pharmaceutical take-back program.
