Help Finding Loved Ones In Haiti

In the aftermath of the earthquake that hit Haiti on Tuesday, the Collier County Sheriff’s Office would like to help residents attempting to locate family and friends in Haiti by providing the following resources:

The U. S. Department of State has set up the following number for Americans seeking information about family members in Haiti: 1-888-407-4747 (due to heavy volume, some callers may receive a recording). The embassy is still in the early stages of contacting American citizens. Communications are very difficult within Haiti at this time.

The International Committee of the Red Cross has set up a Family Links Web site to help search for missing loved ones. This site offers a list where people can post information of those they are trying to reach. The Red Cross is posting any information it receives in response about anyone posted onto the list.
