Six Deputies To Be Honored As Lifesavers

Six Collier County Sheriff’s Office deputies will be recognized for their lifesaving efforts on Tuesday, Jan. 26.

The deputies will be honored with the prestigious Phoenix Award during the Collier County Commission meeting. The meeting is scheduled for 9 a.m. inside the commission chambers on the third floor of the W. Harmon Turner Building at the Collier County Government Center, 3301 U.S. 41 E., East Naples.

The six deputies are:

Cpl. Robert Cady
Cpl. James Spartz
Cpl. Pamela Hughes
Sgt. Terence Smith
Cpl. Luke Arnold
Sgt. Ryan Allen

The Collier County Bureau of Emergency Services developed the Phoenix Awards program in October 1986 to recognize local emergency responders who were involved in the rescue and treatment of a patient who has suffered cardiac arrest and was brought back to life after being found without a pulse.

The award was named after the mythological Phoenix bird that was consumed by fire, later rose renewed from its ashes, and became a symbol of immortality, resurrection and life after death.
