Kevin Eric “K.P.” Perry, 35, was being booked into the Collier County jail Thursday afternoon on a warrant charging him with second-degree murder in connection with the death of Cesar Riley of Naples.
The shooting happened April 22, 2006, at the former Ridgeport Pub, 5425 Airport-Pulling Road, during a private National Football League draft party. Four people were injured, including Riley, 32, who sustained wounds that resulted in his being a quadriplegic.
At the time of the shooting Perry was arrested and charged with four counts of aggravated battery with a firearm and attempted murder.
In 2008 the State Attorney’s Office was unable to pursue criminal prosecution of Perry.
Riley died at Lee Memorial Hospital on Oct. 24, 2010. The District 21 Medical Examiner’s Office ruled Riley’s death a homicide and that it was directly related to his gunshot injuries.
The Collier County Sheriff’s Office initiated a homicide investigation into Riley’s death in November 2010. Through their investigation detectives established probable cause for an arrest warrant.
A no-bond warrant for Perry’s arrest was issued Wednesday.
Perry was arrested without incident by Naples police officers at his parents’ residence, 1339 Fifth Ave. N., in the city of Naples.
