Sign Up For CCSO Women’s Self-Defense Program

Spots are still available for women and teenage girls who want to learn basic physical self-defense skills taught by certified instructors from the Collier County Sheriff’s Office.

CCSO is offering a four-day women’s self-defense course Jan. 9, 11, 16 and 18 at the Professional Development Center, 615 Third Ave. S., Naples.

The Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) course will be 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. each day, and attendance at all four sessions is required to complete the training.

The RAD system is a program of realistic self-defense tactics and techniques for women Instructors will focus on education and awareness, prevention, and risk reduction of assault and rape. Participants will learn self-defense skills that will expand their options in case of an attack.

The program is free of charge, and the minimum age for participants is 16. The class is open to the public and is limited to 15 participants.

Comfortable clothing such as work-out pants, a T-shirt and athletic shoes are recommended.
