Abduction Attempt In Golden Gate

Detectives were searching for a man who tried to force a woman into his vehicle while she was walking in Golden Gate on Friday afternoon.

The Collier County Sheriff’s Office has released a composite photo of the suspect. Detectives said the suspect is described as white, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 155 pounds and around 20 to 25 years old. He was wearing a khaki T-shirt and blue jean pants. He was driving a 1996 to 1998 model gold Toyota Corolla.

The 26-year-old victim told detectives she was walking with a child in the 5300 block of Coronado Parkway around 12:25 p.m. when the suspect, whom she does not know, pulled up next to them and asked her if she wanted a ride. She declined.

The suspect then drove forward and pulled his car over to the side of the road. He got out of the vehicle and opened the passenger-side door. He grabbed the woman by her shoulder and arm, attempting to force the woman inside the vehicle.

The woman struck him in the stomach with her left elbow, allowing her and the child to run away to safety. At no time did the suspect acknowledge or touch the child, detectives said.
