than 40 years after lettering in three sports at Immokalee High School, a
Collier County Sheriff’s Office deputy has been inducted into his alma mater’s
hall of fame.
Cpl.
Tim Howell, who has worked for CCSO since 1984, has played a major role in the
Immokalee High football program over the years. His years of dedication to his
alma mater have not gone unnoticed.
Cpl.
Howell was one of three people inducted into the Immokalee High School Hall of
Fame during a ceremony at Gary Bates Stadium on Sept. 12.
Cpl.
Howell is a 1976 graduate of Immokalee High, where he lettered in football,
basketball and baseball all four years. After graduation, he joined the U.S.
Marine Corps.
Cpl.
Howell is in his second spell coaching at Immokalee High, returning in 2007 to
coach the running backs.
He
began coaching at Immokalee in 1985, where he was the freshmen and junior
varsity running backs coach. From 1993 to 1996 he was the varsity running backs
coach and offensive coordinator. After that due to work responsibilities he
stepped down as offensive coordinator but remained the running backs coach on
the varsity level. Cpl. Howell stepped away from coaching after the 1999 season due to work responsibilities. In his time at Immokalee he has coached Division 1 athletes Jacky Marcellus and Dee Johnson and NFL superstar Edgerrin James.
