Suspicious Incident In Golden Gate Estates

Deputies are investigating a suspicious incident involving a child in Golden Gate Estates over the weekend.
The 7-year-old girl told her mother that she was playing in their back yard in the Valencia Lakes community around 6:30 p.m. Saturday when a man she did not know came up to the fence and asked if he could pet her dog.
The man told the girl he wouldn’t hurt her and stayed at the fence for several minutes watching her before walking away.
The incident was reported to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday evening.
Detectives said the girl described the man as white, tall and thin with gray hair, a beard and a mustache. The girl told detectives he wore a brown hat and sunglasses. He took off his sunglasses and she could see he had green eyes.
The mother used her cell phone to show the girl a composite sketch previously released by CCSO in connection with a suspicious incident in North Naples on April 13. The girl told her mother that the man who approached her matched the image in the composite sketch.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Collier County Sheriff’s Office at 239-252-9300, or if you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).
