Deputies: Father, Grandfather Tried To Remove Girl From Home

A 4-year-old girl was back with her mother Monday after deputies say her father and grandfather tried to remove her from the home of a relative where she and her mother were staying in Golden Gate Estates.

Steven Anthony Barbush, 33, and George Anthony Barbush, 53, were each arrested and charged with burglary with battery.

Reports say Pauleen Barbush, 36, told deputies that she left her home in New Port Richey with her 4-year-old daughter because she feared her husband, Steven Barbush. She and the girl were staying with her sister, Denise Scinlari, in The Quarry, a gated community off Collier Boulevard.

Reports say Scinlari left her house at 9212 Quartz Lane to walk her dog shortly before 10 a.m. Monday, leaving the garage door open. Pauleen Barbush told deputies she was in the kitchen and heard a noise. She turned and saw her husband and his father standing in the entry way.

Reports say Steven Barbush picked up the couple's daughter and ran out of the house.. Pauleen Barbush tried to run out of the house, but her father-in-law pushed her back and blocked her way, causing a scratch on her face.

Steven and George Barbush drove off with the girl in a blue Cadillac. Deputies contacted George Barbush on his cell phone and he told them they were at NCH North Naples Hospital because he had been injured during the altercation.
