Home Invasion Arrest

A pregnant woman and her two young children climbed out a window Wednesday night after a man entered their Immokalee trailer and threatened to kill them, sheriff’s reports said.

Gary Castillo, 21, 629 El Paso Trail, Immokalee, was arrested and charged with robbery/home invasion, child cruelty and aggravated assault.

Reports say Florinda Sanchez, 27, was attempting to lift her sons, ages 3 and 2, through the back window of the trailer at 180 N. 7th St. around 7:45 p.m. when deputies on patrol saw them.

Sanchez, who is four months pregnant, was yelling, “Help. Someone wants to kill us. He is at the front door,’’ reports said.

Sanchez told deputies she was going to the kitchen with her sons when she saw Castillo standing in the middle of the kitchen. She said Castillo demanded beer and threatened her.

Sanchez’s housemate Elubia Martinez, 22, who is five months pregnant, ran into the kitchen to help Sanchez. The women closed and locked the kitchen door.

Castillo began kicking and punching the door, yelling “If you don’t give me what I want, I am going to kill you,’’ reports said.

Martinez ran to her bedroom to check on her 6-month-old baby and to wake up her brother for help.

Sanchez attempted to leave the trailer with her two children out the back window.

Castillo was leaving the trailer as deputies pulled up.
