Body Found Off Alligator Alley Identified

UPDATE: The body has been identified as Charles Lloyd Black, 56, 9300 Sunrise Lakes Blvd. #109, Sunrise.

DEATH INVESTIGATION: TIME: 9:30 a.m.

DATE: Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008

LOCATION: Mile Marker No. 52 on Interstate 75

SUMMARY: Deputies are investigating a possible homicide after a man’s body was found Feb. 14 along the Alligator Alley stretch of Interstate 75, near the Miccosukee Indian Reservation.

A passer-by discovered the body around 9:30 a.m. along a roadside canal near the 52 mile marker of I-75. It is believed the man’s body may have been there overnight.

Foul play is suspected but details about how the man died are not being released because of the ongoing investigation. The Collier County Medical Examiner’s Office will perform an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.

Now investigators are asking for the public’s help in finding the man’s identity. The dead man is described as being black or Hispanic, between the ages of 40 and 60, with short grayish black curly hair.
