Deputies On The Money In Theft Case

Ethiopian money deputies found inside a car that two teens were in led to the teens’ arrests Wednesday in connection with a car burglary in Naples Park over the weekend.

Christopher William Hobbs, 18, 741 99th Ave. N., and Ari Diephouse, 15, 785 102nd Ave. N., both of Naples Park, were each charged with burglary and grand theft.

Reports say Marci Erickson told deputies that her car had been broken into while it was parked at 431 Lagoon Ave., Naples Park, on Saturday or Sunday. A camera, camera lenses and credit cards as well as U.S. and Ethiopian currency were stolen from inside the car.

On Wednesday deputies pulled over Hobbs and Diephouse during a traffic stop in the 700 block of Vanderbilt Beach Road.

A search of the teens’ vehicle turned up Ethiopian currency.
Further investigation turned up the other items reported stolen from Erickson’s vehicle.
