Four Fort Myers men were arrested over the weekend in connection with armed robberies at the Whistler’s Cove apartment complex in East Naples.

Ashton Cameron Hills, 19, 3061 High Street; Tommy Lee Brown, 19, 1170 Bent Creek Loop; Joshua Gonzalez, 18, 1171 Bent Creek Loop; and Jerry Johnson, 21, 3739 Metro Parkway, are charged with armed robbery and armed burglary.

Hills, Brown and Gonzalez are also charged with theft and illegal use of a credit card.

Reports say Pascual Ramon Gaspar Antonio was held up by three men at around 8:30 p.m. Thursday. One of the men placed what he believed was a semi-automatic pistol against his temple and said, “Give me your money.” Another member of the trio was armed with a similar pistol. Antonio handed over his wallet and the men ran away with it. He called deputies, but the suspects could not be located.

Another armed robbery – this one involving four victims - was reported at the complex shortly before 8 p.m. Saturday. Manolo Cano told deputies he was sitting on the stairwell outside his apartment when he noticed that three men were approaching him from behind. He ran to his apartment but the men followed him and forced their way in as Cano tried to shut the door behind him. Cano told deputies the men were pointing guns and yelling at him and his roommates, Pablo Salazar and Elvis Carrillo. When Cano and his roommates yelled for help the three men ran from the apartment. The victims went outside and saw the men get into a gray or silver car that had a rear spoiler driven by a fourth man.

A short time later, deputies stopped a car matching that description at Shadowlawn Drive near Francis Avenue. Inside the car were Hills, Brown, Gonzalez and Johnson. Deputies found two weapons that turned out to be BB guns in the car. The victims later identified the men as the ones who held them at gunpoint in their apartment. The investigation also tied them to Thursday’s hold-up.
