Deputies: Son Threatened Mom With Knife

A man was arrested Tuesday after deputies say he threatened to stab his mother with a knife when she asked him to turn down his stereo.

Matthew Hammer, 23, 4214 Covey Circle, North Naples, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and battery.

Reports say James Hammer told deputies that his son Matthew Hammer became angry with him after he questioned his son about a job application around 10:20 p.m. Matthew Hammer became enraged and punched his father in the face.

Matthew Hammer then went up to his room and began “blasting” music from his stereo. When his mother, Anne Hammer, asked him to turn down the music, he shouted obscenities at her and told her she “had better shut up or he would stab her,” reports said.

Matthew Hammer then pulled out a knife from his pocket and pointed it at her stomach.
She ordered her son to leave the house, but he refused.

James Hammer told deputies that his son had threatened to kill him in the past.
