Learn How To Secure Your Boat

WHAT: “Dock it and Lock it”
WHEN: Wednesday, March 19, 1 to 6:30 p.m.
WHERE: Cedar Bay Yacht Club, 705 East Elkcam Circle, Marco Island

A “Dock it and Lock it” event Wednesday will teach boat owners everything they need to know about protecting their vessels from theft. Those who attend will see an array of security information and a display of electrical and fuel cut-off switches that can be installed in boats to make them resistant to thieves.

A highlight will be a contest that challenges participants to “steal” a boat that is specially equipped with anti-theft devices. The keys will be hidden on board. Players will be allowed five minutes to find the keys and start the boat.

Taking part in “Dock it and Lock it” will be the CCSO, Marco Island Police, United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, Cedar Bay Yacht Club and Sea Tow. The event will take place from 1 to 6:30 p.m. at Cedar Bay Yacht Club, 705 East Elkcam Circle, Marco Island. Free food and refreshments will be served beginning at 4 p.m.
