Teen Nabbed In Convenience Store Holdup

A teenager was arrested after deputies say he robbed Collier County convenience store over the weekend, making his getaway on a red bicycle.

Dalton Lewis Cory, 17, of Fort Myers was charged with robbery, petty theft and resisting arrest.

Reports gave this account:

Cory rode up to the 7-Eleven store at 3600 U.S. 41 N. on a red bike shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday. He parked the bike at the side of the store, entered the store and walked up to the sunglass rack, where he put on a pair of $9.99 sunglasses.

Cory then walked to the counter, pulled a white plastic bag out of his shorts and demanded the clerk give him money from the register, implying that he had a gun.

The teen then took money out of the register drawer and fled the store northbound on U.S. 41 North on his bike.

Deputies searched the area on the ground and in the air. A sheriff’s helicopter unit spotted Cory running through an alley near the intersection of U.S. 41 North and Granada Boulevard.

Deputies pursued the teen on foot, apprehending him in the 4600 block of U.S. 41 North.
