Collier County sheriff’s deputies arrested a 21-year-old man Thursday on charges he stole an assault rifle, handgun and a laptop computer during a house party in Golden Gate Estates earlier this month.
Anthony Robert Avila, 5501 26th Ave. S.W., Golden Gate, was charged with grand theft of a firearm, grand theft, and criminal mischief.
Avila ran off into nearby woods. Deputies searched for Avila on foot and by air but were unsuccessful.

Reports say Avila attended a party at 315 15th St. N.W. on March 9. Witnesses saw Avila leave the house through the front door carrying an AK-47 assault rifle, a .357 magnum handgun and a laptop computer, which belonged to the residents of the home.

Deputies located Avila Thursday at his home, where they arrested him on a probable cause warrant.
