Traffic Stop Nets Drug Arrest

WHAT: CCSO interdiction arrest

WHEN: Thursday, March 20, 2008

LOCATION: State Road 29, Golden Gate Estates

SUSPECT: Miguel A. Alban, 21, of Boynton Beach

CHARGE: Possession of marijuana over 20 grams

SUMMARY: Investigators from the Collier County Sheriff’s Office’s vice narcotics interdiction unit stopped a 2005 Lincoln LS that was traveling south on SR 29 near Oil Well Road around 9:45 p.m. for having illegal window tint.

While investigators were issuing the driver, Alban, a written warning for the illegal tint, they noticed several pieces of marijuana on the rear floorboard of the Lincoln. Alban acted extremely nervous and his hands were shaking as he spoke to investigators.

Investigators deployed a narcotic-detecting canine to search the Lincoln. The search turned up around 150 grams of high-grade marijuana inside a backpack in the trunk, along with several small pieces of marijuana on the floorboard, ashtrays and center console.

Investigators also found a fully loaded Taurus .357 handgun in the glove compartment of the vehicle.
