A man who deputies say broke into a van in North Naples earlier this month and pointed a gun at the van owner, who tried to stop him as he made his get-away, was arrested Tuesday.
Yadir Padron, 29, Lehigh Acres, was arrested and charged with armed burglary, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and grand theft.
Reports gave this account:
Thomas Doran, 56, told deputies he saw Padron going through his 2006 GMC commercial van, which was parked in the 1300 block of Sweetwater Cover, around 1:45 p.m. on April 9.
Doran said he went outside to confront Padron, who then got inside a white Ford van that was parked next to Doran’s van. Doran grabbed Padron through the open window.
While they struggled, Padron threw a garbage disposal out the open front passenger window. Doran told deputies the garbage disposal had been stored inside his van.
Padron then took out a black handgun and pointed it at Doran’s head. Padron began driving away with Doran still holding onto him. Thomas lost his grip after a few yards and Padron drove away.
A palm print taken from the garbage disposal helped lead deputies to Padron, reports said.
