Drugs, Firearm Arrests
Two men were arrested early Wednesday after deputies say they found a loaded gun and drugs in their car in North Naples.
Garbriel Mata, 22, of Bonita Springs was charged with carrying a concealed firearm by a convicted felon, possession of crack cocaine with intent to sell, possession of crack cocaine, and possession of a controlled narcotic.
Wesley M. Gutierrez, 27, of Lehigh Acres, was charged with possession of crack cocaine with intent to sell and possession of crack cocaine.
Reports say deputies stopped Gutierrez and Mata, who were traveling in a silver Mercury Grand Marquis, around 12:40 a.m. in the Wal-Mart parking lot at 11225 U.S. 41 N., North Naples after receiving a report of a possible battery.
As deputies spoke to Gutierrez, the driver, and Mata, the front-seat passenger, they noticed crack cocaine in plain view inside the car, reports said.
A further search turned up more cocaine, alprazolam and a loaded .45-caliber Glock pistol under the front passenger seat, reports said.
A computer check revealed Gutierrez and Mata are both convicted felons out of Lee County, reports said.
