Machete Attack Leads To Two Arrests

Deputies arrested two men Sunday night after deputies say they attacked a father and a son who were on their way home from a birthday party in Golden Gate.

Roberto Sanchez, 44, 257 Hoover St., Golden Gate, was charged with aggravated battery on a person using a deadly weapon. Ricardo Diaz, 3330 13th Ave. S.W., Golden Gate, was charged with battery.

Reports say Marcelino Arriaga, 54, said he was leaving his birthday party along Hunter Avenue near 24th Avenue Southwest around 11:30 p.m. when a green car pulled up next to him. The driver, Diaz, got out of the car and attacked him with his fists and left.

Diaz returned about 10 minutes later with several other men, including Sanchez, and attacked Arriago’s two sons, Oscar Leonel Arriaga Perez, 26, and Edis Arriaga, 25.

Sanchez struck Arriaga Perez in the face, knocking him to the ground, and then slashed him in the leg and back with a machete, reports said.
