Media Opportunity - Fallen Deputy Service

WHAT: Fallen CCSO Deputies Honored

WHEN: 8:30 a.m. Thursday, May 15, 2008

WHERE: 3301 U.S. 41 East, in front of Building J.

SYNOPSIS: The Collier County Sheriff’s Office will pay tribute to 10 fallen officers and their families Thursday.

The ceremony, which will include a fly-over, an appearance by the CCSO Mounted Patrol Unit and special recognition of each fallen officer, is part of the agency’s observance of National Peace Officer Week.

Ten Collier officers have lost their lives in the line of duty.

They are: Investigator Arthur Amos, Dep. Maurice Anglin, Cpl. Mark Caperton, Dep. Raul “Rudy” Dimas, Cpl. Amedicus “Med” Howell III, Dep. William Hutto, Dep. William Irwin, Sgt. Joe Jones Jr., Dep. W.B. Richardson, and Sgt. Roy Williams.

The community is invited to join CCSO members and families of fallen deputies for this important observance.
