Pursuit Ends In Driver's Arrest

A car and foot pursuit by deputies in North Naples late Wednesday ended in a motorist's arrest on felony charges.

Jancarlo Valero, 20, who did not list an address on arrest reports, was charged with fleeing and eluding, resisting arrest with violence, driving on a suspended license and reckless driving.

Arrest reports gave this account:

Valero was behind the wheel of a green Ford Explorer that was traveling at a high rate of speed along Woods Edge Parkway near U.S. 41 North around 10:45 p.m. The Explorer left the road several times, endangering other motorists.

Deputies on patrol attempted to stop the Explorer, which stopped briefly and then turned left onto Old 41 Road and sped up.

Deputies then chased the Explorer and speeds reached up to 90 mph. The Explorer continued north on Old 41, turning left into the Arbor View apartment complex.

The Explorer came to a stop and Valero jumped out the driver’s-side door and ran. Following a brief foot chase, deputies located Valero trying to enter an apartment and arrested him.

Valero was also arrested on two outstanding warrants charging him being a fugitive from justice in Lee County for failure to appear in court on driver’s license suspension charge and with violating his county probation on a DUI charge.
